Cheese Ball Drop

December 28, 2010

I love just about anything you can dip, scoop, or spread on a cracker. Combine that with cheese and I’m practically drooling. This cheese ball recipe is the perfect hors d’œuvre to add to any New Years party. After starting with a base of cream cheese, I added shredded sharp cheddar and pepper jack to give it a little kick. And don’t be surprised if you taste tropical fruit in there too. Adding an unexpected ingredient like crushed pineapple balanced out the sweet and spicy perfectly! I’ll admit this is a little messy to make, so here’s your fair warning! But it’s worth it, and I can guarantee you it’ll be a hit.

2 (8oz) packages cream cheese

3/4 cup shredded sharp cheddar

1/4 cup shredded pepper jack

1/2 green bell pepper (finely chopped)

1 (8oz) can crushed pineapple

1 tsp worcestershire sauce

1 tsp garlic salt

1 1/2 cup chopped pecans

Combine all ingredients (except 1 cup pecan)s & shape mixture into a ball with your hands. Then roll the ball in the remaining pecans on a piece of parchment paper & completely coat. Serves at least 15, if not more!

Oh, and you need crackers of your choice! (I choose Vinta Whole Grain Original)

Mmmm I’ve never made a cheese ball but this seems like a perfect treat for my NYE potluck party. Pineapples and pepper jack – yes please! Thanks for sharing! 🙂
